Dar Ayed Tamezret: a rustic Boutique Hotel in a Scenic, Peaceful Location in Southern Tunisia

Inspired by Berber traditions, Dar Ayed Tamezret is a unique boutique concept in southern Tunisia. A tranquil place where you can completely escape from the modern world. It’s low-rise in stature, authentic, and stylish in design, with interiors abundant with flourishes of color – brimming with local crafts and textiles typical of the region. As you enter the grounds, you’re greeted with exposed sandstone walls and a set of arched wooden doorways decorated with religious and spiritual symbols. Outdoors, a crystalline swimming pool invites you for a cooling dip, and hammocks sway in the gentle breeze tempting you to simply unwind. The interior is equally as appealing, while the rooms ooze rustic charm.

You can taste local Berber cuisine in the atmospheric restaurant or outside on the tiled terrace overlooking Tamezret village. Spend your days leisurely roaming labyrinth village streets, exploring the village museum, or hiking to beauty spots for the best views. Dar Ayed Tamezret takes care of all the little details for you, offering excursions and entertainment. On some evenings, you may see folk musicians perform in traditional Tunisian dress.

By far, one of the best places I have visited in years. Top-notch hospitality, incredible views, and wonderful people. Special mention to the host Rafiq, one of the best people I have met for his politeness, care, and genuineness. God bless him. Big up to the founders for the warm welcome, great food, and attention to details. I very rarely give such praise, however well-deserved. Thank you for making this family trip so memorable. Will definitely be back. To anyone reading this, I personally vouch for this.

Lovely place, exceptionally helpful and kind staff, really great food (both dinner and breakfast). Simple but perfect.
Suite room in front of the pool was exceptional. Only problem was the swimming pool not being clean and the poor breakfast.

A very nice host and a well maintained compound. Conveniently located near Matmâta with a nice view of Tamezret from their own watch tower. :)The host even got us an appointment for access to the local Berber Museum (small but well worth a visit, even better if you understand French). It was still too cold for the pool, so it wasn’t set up yet.

Cannot sing enough praises. Dinners were amazing and the staff went above and beyond. Rafik especially as he was the soft touch we needed after a rather stressful trip to the desert and immediately made us fee at ease and hosted what became an unforgettable weekend. Thanks Rafik and the rest of the staff for making it an unforgettable trip!!!!
