Kasbah Du Toubkal, a restorative mountain hideaway for weary travelers

Bellow the imposing Jbel Toubkal, North Africa’s highest mountain, sits one of Morocco’s most remarkable boutique hotels, Kasbah Du Toubkal. What was once an affluent summer home fell into ruin but was restored to its former glory and is now a beacon for sustainable tourism in Morocco.

Follow the click-clack of the mules over the rocky terrain as they carry your bags up to the resplendent property. Every inch of the building is true to Berber aesthetics and pays homage to this distinctive culture. Rich tapestries cover the floors with plush pillows and sofas lining the walls of the living spaces.

The attentive staff all hail from the surrounding areas, giving you a true feel for the incomparable hospitality. Here your senses will come alive, surrounded by vivid colors, rich aromas, sumptuous textiles, and the blanket of silence that covers the valley at nightfall.

The terrace is the pièce de résistance, offering sweeping views of the mountainous landscape, the most remarkable in North Africa. On cool evenings, you can curl up next to the fireplace and gaze upon the thick belt of stars spanning across the uninterrupted sky.

The food here is inedible. I think the owner feels like tourists like over chips and disgusting cheese panini

If you do not stay at the Kasbah during your visit to Marrakech Morocco, at last visit for the day. This is a magical place with magnificent views, some of the best food you will have in Morocco, nestled in the midst of the charming village of Imlil.

This place was beautiful honestly I loved almost everything apart from how terrible the wifi was 😭. I had some work to do and had to hike up to the terrace to do it . No WiFi in the rooms, you might be lucky to get some just outside your room. Great if u wanna go off grid for a bit. Also all meals have to be eaten on the terrace which is outside so you'll be swatting quite a few flies will trying to eat.

The location is breath-taking and views are exceptional. Food was excellent although service was too leisurely at times - particularly for lunch. This was the most expensive place we stayed in Morocco and the standard of accommodation simply wasn't good -bedding needs an upgrade - far from luxurious or even comfortable. They may be relying too heavily on past accolades and awards as well as the fabulous location.

We stayed at the Kasbah for two nights and did a hike to their trekking lodge. Everything was super lovely. The service, the food, the hammam and the stunning location. Our guide Abdu was great and the hike was organized pefectly! If you can, spend a couple of days there.

What a magical experience! The Kasbah is absolutely beautiful. The food and the service is one of the best I've had in Morocco. The treks are very well organized and the Azzaden trekking lodge is very nice as well. I would totally recommend the Kasbah to anyone visiting Imlil, without a doubt!

There is no better place in the high Atlas mountains than this place. It is so quiet and beautiful and laid-back as well. Quality of food is excellent but most important of all is the sheer beautiful attitude of everyone involved. Take the time to read the history of the place and admire all the hard work that has gone into making it what it is. There is quite simply nowhere Quite like it that I've ever been before.
