Beautiful establishment, magnificent panorama, friendly staff. However disappointed with the breakfast which was not plentiful enough for €15 and in comparison with other establishments of the same standard.

Excellent stay at the Mougins reserveThe staff are adorable and really caring. Very beautiful and well decorated common areas. The terrace and the swimming pool have a beautiful view of the surrounding towns. Very relaxing place in the center of Mougins. Only breakfast (not included) is a little simple compared to the rest of the hotel's services. Thanks again to Frédérique and the team.

The location and things to do: Mougins is one of the most charming tiny hilltop villages I saw throughout (I loved it more than the beaux villages of Luberon). I will be booking this spot again in a heartbeat next year and can’t wait to be back. This is a pedestrian only village with a free public parking lot right as you enter. The hotel (La Reserve) has private access to the roads in town and with a small golf cart can help transport luggage for arrival/departure from the parking. Mougins is famous for its fine dining, art galleries, quaint cobbled streets and tiny shops. Oh and Picasso lived here for a bit. The lack of traffic meant kids can play freely in the streets, and it’s quieter. The whole village is tiny so you could also just walk it all in a day. We used it as a base to get to Grasse for a perfume workshop at Fragonard/Molinard and a boat snorkel trip around Lérins bay near Cannes. The hotel grounds and staff:We booked an apartment which is located a 3 min walk from the main hotel building. It was the prettiest street in all of town. The apartment is charmingly decorated and they actually happen to have an interior decor store if you love the style. Our apartment had 2 bedrooms with 2 queen beds. One of the bedrooms had a small balcony. The bedrooms are on the 2nd floor and the kitchen and living space below, so be prepared to carry luggage up a small flight of stairs. The shower is nice. There is a combination washer/dryer in the unit which was great to run a small load. Most European washer dryers that are in-unit never dry completely but hot summers mean clothes hung to dry will likely be done drying in a day. The main building with single rooms has a pool and a small restaurant that serves tapas, drinks (including poolside) and breakfast. The staff - Anthony and Federique were super nice and helpful. Anthony helped make restaurant reservations. Federique communicated with us via the hotel’s WhatsApp. She was incredibly patient with our delayed evening arrival post reception hours.Newbie tip! If you’re flying in from Nice, I recommend you estimate at least 2 hours from your flight arrival. While Mougins is only 35 mins away, Nice doesn’t have its car rentals in the same building and terminals are not close to each other (15-20 mins free tram ride away). Plan to be line for an hour for your reserved rental with more paperwork than you’re used to. And whatever car rental you choose don’t pick Enterprise (they suck!)Where to eat:Our favorite restaurant was La Mediterranee which is in the main town square. Aubaine, Nico, Geoffré were the friendliest people I have ever met. They encouraged my rudimentary French, including making small corrections so I could learn. You can’t go wrong with any of the food, but their poulpé pasta and sole meunière were some of the best I’ve had throughout our 2 weeks trip in South France. We tried the fancier L’Amandier one night but honestly the food wasn’t as good so we came daily to Méditerranée…because we just loved it that much.

Great stay with my wife for our honeymoon. Great service, and the room we had was the perfect size with a luxurious bathroom. The view from our balcony and the communal area is beautiful with a perfect sunset over the mountains. It’s also close to a lot of other locations such as Nice, Grasse, Antibes, Cannes, etc, which are very easy to drive to.

Focus on sustainability

Figs

Like the fig tree routs, the property is constantly addressing many sustainable tourism areas and excelling in most fields.

  • The building does not lack of proofs that is it supporting eco-tourism whether by using roofing insulation material including exterior walls, ceilings, floors and windows or by enabling a water saving system, separating recyclables and trimming compost.
  • The owners are trying to embed the local culture of Mougins into the property by encouraging small local businesses while using mainly local construction material, by choosing local plants to decorate the interior and exterior with and by partially purchasing organic and locally produced food.

Explore the location

A rambling French medieval village, Mougins is brimming over with charm. With an exhaustive selection of restaurants (many of which are Michelin-starred), you can feast on fabulous local cuisine and savour the sumptuous wines France is known for.

Perfectly located on a hill with views over the stunning French Riviera and just 15 minutes from Nice, you can explore beaches, wineries, golf courses and so much more in the surrounding countryside as well as visit St. Tropez and Monaco.
