Dar El Marsa: Your design home-from-home in la Marsa

Don’t be fooled by the grandiose façade of Dar El Marsa. Despite the magnificent white colonial exterior, this is a truly welcoming spot. The name does mean “El Marsa Home”, after all. Dar el Marsa has set a high standard for all other hotels in the country, being the first city boutique hotel. With every single room boasting an incredible view of the Mediterranean, you have the opportunity to wake up every morning with the sea stretching out beyond their toes. And then there’s the effortlessly elegant style interior creating an atmosphere of calm luxury, not to mention the hype yet chilled atmosphere at the rooftop terrace.

Perhaps most enchanting about the Dar el Marsa, however, is the undeniable presence of warm, uniquely Tunisian hospitality that permeates every moment of your stay. You will see carefully woven elements of Tunisian culture into the modern appearance of their hotel, from the wool and silk handcrafted blankets on the beds to the sumptuous local fare in the restaurant. Perfectly located to explore the fascinating, beautiful la Marsa, this hotel is truly your home-from-home in Tunis.

The menu says service is included (see photo) but the waiters will ask for money and won't give you your change when you pay the bill (unless you wait ages after asking for it). It should be the choice of the customer whether or not to get change. They have tried to keep the change without saying anything every time I have been here for the last year. It leaves a bad impression - I only come because it's one of the few places open in Ramadan.

This review only related to Dar Al Marsa restaurant at the rooftop. A friend of mine invited me and my family there to have the restaurant's special dish which lamb meat with Tunisian Koskos. The plate was more than enough for 3 persons with a high standard of quality and taste. I loved the experience, and I would love to redo it again. The price is high, but it is worth the experience.

My stay at Dar El Marsa was nothing short of fantastic! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by the warm and friendly staff who made me feel right at home. Samar, in particular, stood out with her exceptional hospitality and helpfulness throughout my stay. The hotel itself is a true gem – it's well-equipped, impeccably clean, and exudes a sense of luxury and comfort. The attention to detail in maintaining the cleanliness of the rooms and common areas was truly commendable. One aspect that truly impressed me was the outstanding security measures in place at the hotel. I felt safe and well-protected during my entire stay, which is a testament to the management's commitment to guest safety. The peace of mind that comes with such excellent security is invaluable when traveling. The hotel's location is also a highlight, with easy access to various attractions and a beautiful view of the surroundings. Whether you're looking to relax by the pool, enjoy a delicious meal at the on-site restaurant, or explore the area, Dar El Marsa has it all.In summary, my experience at Dar El Marsa was exceptional, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful place to stay. Outstanding hotel in the very best part of Tunisia. My family and me enjoyed the excellent and professional service of all the staff, with special mention to the front desk guys, specially Dem. All of them have made our life so easy along our stay. I strongly recommend the hotel if you wanna have the best visitor experience in Tunisia.

This review is strictly for the rooftop restaurant that has some really great food. The selection is not vast but they make some truly tasty dishes. It is a bit too expensive considering I have eaten at many restaurants in Tunisia that are just as high quality with much better portions.

Breakfast

Breakfast at Dar el Marsa is a serious affair. Think platters of delicate pastries, multi-coloured arrays of seasonal fruits, from plump dates to juicy pomegranates, and eggs prepared any way you like them. Coffee, of course, is an integral part of the Tunisian way of life and you can inhale the aromatic scent of yours as you gaze out at the Med from the panoramic restaurant. Breakfast is served on the rooftop but can be enjoyed anywhere in the hotel, from your private terrace to a poolside table.

Restaurant 360

At the Dar el Marsa restaurant, the chef expertly blends local tradition with contemporary techniques and flavours. Heavily based on seasonal produce and with a seafood offering that depends on market offerings, you’ll find a new surprise every day, from baby squid and marinated sardines to mouth-wateringly tasty lamb and couscous. Linger over your meal in the panoramic rooftop setting, watching the sun dip quietly beyond the horizon as you tuck into a velvety crème brûlée for dessert.
